(CNET, August 18, 2020) Since the pandemic, online sales have soared. People are buying things online more than ever before in 2020. Many of us don't see the need for going into stores, especially with all the options out there. Health, beauty, grocery, and home goods are all available online, and that won't change anytime soon.

But all this growth comes at a cost. Many brick and mortar stores are struggling - more than two dozen retail stores have declared bankruptcy protection this year, as many customers are afraid to venture into stores.

According to experts, just about every major retail is spiking in online sales. Grocery has probably made the biggest leap, up 13% of all sales were online and moved up to 20% since mid-April. 20% might not sound like much, but in a trillion dollar industry, these numbers are phenomenal. I enjoy ordering my groceries online (partially because I'm lazy), it's so easy.

There are some things that I'd rather go into the store for. Like, do you ever just like to walk through the store just to see what's new? You can't browse the aisle online like you can in the store. But then again, I always end up buying things I don't really need.

That being said, retail stores still have a place in the world - but what's their fate if we keep shopping online?
