Walmart Plus: Everything you need to know

09-02-2020 04:00 pm(CNET 2020) Walmart has a new delivery service. You have to pay a subscription, but does the service and convenience rival Amazon Prime? Here's all the information that we know so far about the new subscription service.
Cost: You can pay an annual price fo $98, or go monthly and pay $12.95 (which ends up being $155.40 a year). You can try it out with a 15 day trial.
Sign-up: Membership will be available starting Sept. 15. Sign up link will be on the Walmart website.
What's included: Walmart already has an original Delivery Unlimited option on their app, but Walmart Plus will offer "in-store prices" and "as fast as same-day" delivery on over 160,000 items. With this service, anything that's in-store can be at your door within a day or even on the same day, with no added fees. There is still a minimum of $35 on deliveries.
Subscribers will also get access to Scan & Go, a feature in the Walmart app that lets you scan items as you shop and then check out using Walmart pay, skipping the checkout lane. You'll also get a gas perk, You'll save up to 5 cents per gallon at nearly 2,000 fuel stations, with more to come.
Plus vs Prime: Even though it sounds like another version of Amazon Prime, it's really not. Walmart's subscription is about $21 less per year than Prime. And while the delivery option for Plus is great, you won't have nearly the selection and stock as you do with Prime. Amazon also has two grocery angles too - with free two-hour delivery from Whole Foods stores and Amazon Fresh. Amazon also offers TV, music, books, and more with the Prime subscription.
Walmart has promised to expand their benefits over time. Overall, Walmart Plus is a good value if you live close to one and they have what you need.
